Like a hurricane
Maddened. Angered and insane
So was our thoughts in those days.
Like hurricane
Wild. Fearful as the boastings of an eclipse
We fought the ghosts out of our land!
Our freedom was in pains
We lost the pleasures of our gains
We lost peace; and slavery ruled.
But like hurricane
We threw them across the ocean.
Back to their graves.

Alas! Like hurricane
We are now foes of ourselves.
Maddened. Wild and insane
We fight within our circle
We kill ourselves with crime
Snatch the bread from children
And throw to the ghosts
To their graves across the ocean.
Maddened; angered, insane
A war is heard within the ship
Sailors kill their men in sleep.
What insanity!
Like hurricane
An air of treason has invade.

When it is dusk in Africa
The streets run to every door
And we are valleys all to stare
The clouds praying to the air
“Heal us Africa with the balm of your Roots
Heal us with the beauty of your art”.

Dusk in Africa
In Africa
Brews our soul for the children to drink.
We are all but eyes
To stare and wonder
Like Angels on a stroll.

Who can eat the rottening pie?
Whose taste lost; yet
Abiding in the mouth of the simple
Ad tagged the world as
The past century dwellers.
Though the cakes we are forced to eat
The palm oil soiled yam
As the pies of our fathers
Do out lips longeth for.
Yet lost from our hungry mouths
We still day dream our origin.

Who can tell the way of the drums?
Who can stir the pottage of our pot?
Where is the breast that feed this giant?
Weep and morn! Oh, women of the land
For the one we cherish
Let our hearts believe not
The hands of death on our beloved
For this only is a long sleep.

Laughter will never grow old
Our songs will never age
Like the mountains of Africa
Boasting before years
Laughter will never grow old
Our songs will never age.

When I leave to swallow the sea
Skip the jungle into dreams
Do not mourn me, Africa
When I put out to heed
A call of change across the border.

I want to learn to play pianos
So our drums will smile unique
Do not mourn me, Africa
When I set out to see
What lies inside the Hammer.

Not in vain my bracelets cast
Charmed Rhythms of our songs
Do not mourn me, Africa
When I heed to the dance of lands
Nature teases in our whisper.

Do not mourn me, Africa
Do not mourn.
