SLOVENIA , my dearest country of poets ,poetry and wordcarvers. I never met you physically . I meet you now through your brilliant literalists , enlightened poets and talented wordcarvers . Iam impressed by this global virtual creative literary exchange . If you throw a stone in Ljubljana , you hit a metaphor , an epic poem , a ballad , a sonnet or just a verse for the sake of poetry and for poetry . Slovenia , I love you . Borut Petrovič Vernikov is an amazing wordslinger .He throws chubby word stubs on hot pages and blaze them into a tongues of poetic flames . His expression is coupled with verbal simplicity and logical depth . That qualifies him into being a master of literary economics and a dexter in poetry delievery . His verses are pregnant with meaning , suspense and maturity . Borut Petrovič Vernikov’s featured poem PRAYER is solid evidence of this my rat tat but true blurb above .His set of poems will be featured in the TIME OF THE POET PROFILES ( miombopublishing.wordpress.com
)this month . Slovenia , country of poets . Ljubljana ! Ljubljana more creative hugs to you .  For purposes of inclusion and diversity  four poems are published in Slovenian language and one in English . ALUTA CONTINUA ! PRAYER

to be a tree
so that
birds may nest
in its crown

to be the word
that kisses freedom
hidden in a locked cage
of life

to be the key
that opens the door
so that the traveller may enter
into the embrace of love

amen

Translated from Slovenian by Aleksandra L. Ceferin
LOVE
in times past
the dark
was only
the dark
no one saw it
no one was there
the light burst forth
who knows
maybe this is
love
the earth
is its
tear
some time
it will
dissolve
stone
will remain
and turn
to dust
the dark
will envelop it
into a gift
who knows
maybe
endlessly
lovingly
giving

Translated from Slovenian by Aleksandra L. Ceferin

THE DARK
caressing me with silence
in it I seek its reflection
in its depth
I perceive the invisible
whiteness
it is unlike the azure of heavens
I am becoming its silence
it fills me
with the energy of peace
I can’t reveal it
not even with words
that dance like the Fates
before the altar of mystery
the dark
I came from it
all comes from it
even light
Translated from Slovenian by Aleksandra L. Ceferin
SPIRIT (spiritus)
spirit is
the invisible eye
everywhere
in the heart
in the stone
in the earth
in the water
in the light
in the dark
in the wind
spirit is
the kiss
the touch
the path
the station
the silence
the thought
the word
it opens
the hands
spirit is
the truth
without end
spirit is
the invisible seed
ceaselessly
sending forth buds

Translated from Slovenian by Aleksandra L. Ceferin
BREATHE THE SOUL INTO IT
you see the reflection that slides
along the travelling light
of extinguished star
it died of loneliness
now it travels
through emptiness
knows no words
to sing
on the way to extinction

you sense its silence
that pierces the dark of the universe

you hear it wailing
without tears
they dried on the way
to noreturn

so do not grow silent
even if the word
not caress with fingers of light

breathe into it the soul
from that even death
draws back into beyond-death

Borut Petrovič Vernikov

Translated from Slovenian by Aleksandra L. Ceferin

MOLITEV

Biti Drevo
da lahko
ptice gnezdijo
v njegovi krošnji

Biti Beseda
ki poljublja svobodo
skrito v zaklenjeni kletki
življenja

Biti Ključ
ki odpira vrata
da lahko popotnik vstopi
v objem ljubezni

Amen

LJUBEZEN

nekoč je bila
tema
samo
tema
nihče je ni videl
nikogar ni bilo
zableščala je svetloba
kdove
mogoče je to
ljubezen
zemlja
je njena
solza
nekoč
bo izhlapela
ostal bo
kamen
postal bo prah
tema
ga bo zavila
v darilo
kdove
mogoče
ga nenehno
ljubeče
podarja
TEMA

poljublja me s tišino
v njej iščem svoj odsev
v njeni globini
zaznavam nevidno
belino
drugačna je od jasnine
postajam njen molk
polni me
z energijo miru
ne morem je razodeti
niti z besedami
ki plešejo kot rojenice
pred oltarjem skrivnosti
tema
iz nje sem prišel
vse prihaja iz nje
tudi svetloba
DUH(spiritus)
duh je
nevidno oko
je povsod
v srcu
v kamnu
v zemlji
v vodi
v svetlobi
v temi
v vetru
duh je
poljub
dotik
je pot
postaja
molk
misel
beseda
odpira
dlani
duh je
resnica
brez dna
duh je
nevidno seme
nenehno
kali
Borut Petrovič Vernikov
vdahni ji dušo

vidiš odsev ki drsi
po potujoči svetlobi
ugasle zvezde
umrla je od samote
sedaj potuje
skozi praznino
ne pozna besed
da bi jih pela
na poti do ugasnitve

čutiš njen molk
ki reže temo vesolja

slišiš njen jok
brez solz
izhlapele so na poti
v nevrnitev

zato nikar ne obmolkni
četudi te beseda
ne boža s prsti svetlobe

vdahni ji dušo
pred njo se tudi smrt
umika v zasmrtje
