Your stubbed verses glow with the oil of reason and as our patched readers throat and groping hearts are surrendered to swig grape-fruit juice of wisdom from jugs of suspense. The   imagery captivates the mind and as well ripples our blood streams, while it reveals shadows walking stealthily behind mountains of life.   The set of poems is refreshing and profoundly unusual. It is a diligently-curated dramatic monologue as our poet, writer, filmmaker speaks to her inner self and invisible silhouettes. Her dialogue with self-projects   meaning and the reason abound. This presentation more than hybrid, it is an experimental versification exercise that assigns our psyches to jog like in a relay. Ruth Novaczek is a multi-genre arts personality, dabbling in poetry, long writings, filmmaking and experimental arts productions. TIME OF THE POET REPUBLIC salutes Diversity, Dexterity and Creativity, thus today we feature a mesmerizing Poet and Film Artist Ruth Novaczek. Together We Rise –(Blurb by Mbizo CHIRASHA).

POETRY IS TRUTH

You can’t say that

Platitude

I feel, I feel

Feel lies

It comes out

In lines

And asleep

It’s impossible to narrate

That’s the point

Nobody goes there

I covered you with blankets

I realized I loved you

We are a world

It’s so pretty and true

Dirty, bittersweet

We shout into nights

Beautiful conspiracy

How do you say

to think together

A sentimental education

Where there are no edges

And last night

And you won’t see the moon

And really it’s no more

Shadows of my isolation

Journey to be on

Difficult minds

Wavelength

I’m jealous,

I am crushed today

You call it ‘shrink’

Synchronicities

Your mind not entirely

My archaeologies

Off radar

How do we make it last

It was never the deal

I’m the shade and you light me

Since I let you in

Every object has a story

It’s a beautiful day, without you

I’m so hungry these days

It was a gateway

Like you give me time

And the way you accelerate

And if that’s gambling

We hold ourselves to ransom

To futures and malls

To dinners on plates

Untranslatable

The pans have holes from burning rice

There is one sharp knife

Nothing tastes

This day is cruel

Glinting darkly

By street light

We are detectives

In cars

We are on every street

And everywhere

  UGLY PACKAGING

Mismatched colours

Stamped with a garish yellow tag

Denoting the price

Can we go back to base

Start-again design

Optimistic innovation

Or will we descend further into hell

Statistical life

Food on shelves

Brand names shouting

Registers clicking

Cowed into submission

A mad marketplace

Where the colours of greed

Make us crazy

And disorder

Of the aesthetic kind

Design without beauty

Hard sell on the psyche

Rules every thing we bring in

Generic branding

Ruining our landscape

Our cityscape with its signs

A pack of Gitanes

Bought abroad

Illegal here

Editions Gallimard

Some cultures defend

And some give in

To ugliness

In all its dumb hubris

Choose beauty

Banish brutes

HERE ARE PLACES I FELL IN

Here are the places I fell in

They have no name

That’s what g-d was about

To remind us nameless things

Can kill

Their unaccountable cases

Everything gets covered in the wrong kind of dirt

You save my day

While I drug myself

Alone at a table

On the page

Loveliness, well

I found some

Cure myself

How this thing

Found a way in

Take it out

Grown into

Disgust and desire

You are just that last

Love is another time

Our detective life

Beautifully punctuated

If that’s the word

Designed

I said

I could die

Nothing mattered

I lost my sense of humour

On ugly roads

On TV screens

I was born

We all were

In chapter two
