You are welcome to attend and we look forward to presenting an exciting, dynamic and vibrant Poetry Symposium, where Africa speaks of itself through poetry.
The 100 Thousand Poets for Change Movement was founded 10 years ago by Editors, Poets, and internationally acclaimed Artists Michael Rothenberg and Terri Carrion —in order to speak change, to speak truth—against racial injustice, wars, poverty, corruption, the demise of human rights and smothering of human freedoms. The movements speaks through literary arts activism and social change-activism arts.
The Poetry Fête is co-hosted by African Griots and The BeZine in coordination with 100 Thousand Poets for Change. Poets in this All Africa Poetry Celebration are from Sierra Leone, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Morocco, and Zimbabwe. Co-host and Emcee, Mbizo Chirasha, has worked tirelessly with 100 Thousand Poets for Change since its inception a decade ago, through literary arts projects GirlChildCreativity Project and the Zimbabwe We Want Poetry Campaign.Internationally renowned Jerusalem-based poet and The BeZine editor Michael Dickel will co-host the streaming events and attempt to wrangle the technology. This mega event will be streamed lived on several digital platforms.

Tanaka Chidora is a poet, literary critic and academic who teaches Creative Writing and Theories of Literature in the Department of English at the University of Zimbabwe. Some of his works appear in Zimbolicious (Volume 4), The Standard’s Gourd of Consciousness poetry corner (Zimbabwe), and Brave Voices Poetry Journal. Tanaka is currently working on two novels, the first an auto-fictional memoir of his childhood in Mbare, and the second a collection of a Chitungwiza commuter’s diaries. Muzondo's new play premiers – NewsDay Zimbabwe
Nyanduri Nyandoro aka Tafadzwa Muzondo is the founder of the “Edzai Nesu” (Try Us) Theatre group in Highfield, a suburb of Harare, Zimbabwe. Highfield is crowded and poor, with high levels of unemployment and drug use, particularly among the young. Muzondo wanted to clean up Highfield; he wanted to keep its young people off drugs and off the streets. So he conducted a campaign. He secured funds and workers to transform an old, dirty foot bridge near a shopping center into a beautiful art center. The center is now the site of meetings, forums, and other activities, many of them focused on helping young people get critical information about health and government.

I am an aspiring Moroccan researcher_ with a BA degree in English Studies, and I am currently doing a master degree in English literature_ and a poet with no publication records so far. Actually, I have never had any work published in any literary magazine, making yours the first magazine to attract my attention. my literary interests range across Gothic literature, Magic Realism, Science Fiction and Fantasy, ancient mythology, and peace-seeking literature, to name a few. I have produced several articles, book reviews, and an incomplete novella, yet unpublished. My current research paper is concerned with tradition and modernity in Twentieth century fiction and how the past, i.e. literary past, is the key to making the modern world orderly, peaceful, and more tolerant.

Lingiwe Patience Gumbo was born on 25 October and grew up in Gweru. She is an Administrator and Secretary by profession and a church volunteer teacher/ advisor for adolescents. Gumbo is a singer-songwriter with an 8track album titled Worthy of all my praise (2017) and 2 singles (2018 Arise Beloved Zimbabwe – a song of hope & 2020 Grace).  She is currently working on her second album titled Gratitude. Gumbo’s poems are featured in various online platforms like miombopublishing and girlchildcreativity. She was part of a group of poets  who published their first anthology titled Don’t give up Africa in 2008 Some of her poems have been published in Wildfire Publications Monthly Magazine (August 2019). SYMPOSIUM CO-HOST -Michael (Dickel) Dekel has authored six published books and chapbooks (pamphlets) of poetry and short fiction, and published over 200 individually published poems, short stories, and non-fiction pieces, in addition to book-reviews and academic articles—under his birth name, Michael Dickel. Nothing Remembers, his most recent poetry collection, came out in 2019 from Finishing Line Press (https://tinyurl.com/y3684acu). For Fisher Features, Ltd, he wrote a successful NEH film-development grant and the script for a documentary film on Yiddish theatre. Michael Rothenberg is  a poet, editor and publisher of the online literary magazine BigBridge.org, co-founder of 100 Thousand Poets for Change (www.100tpc.org), and co-founder of Poets In Need, a non-profit 501(c), assisting poets in crisis. Born in Miami Beach, Florida in 1951, Rothenberg moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1975 and co-founded Shelldance Orchid Gardens in Pacifica, which is dedicated to the cultivation of orchids and bromeliads. While in Pacifica, he helped lead local environmental actions that stopped major coastal developments that would destroy wildlife habitat. He was co-founder of Pacificans for Mori Point, a grass-roots group that led the battle to stop development of endangered species habitat on Mori Point and Sweeney Ridge, which resulted in the eventual inclusion of these areas in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. He was also on the G.G.N.R.A. Steering Committee, the Board of Directors of the Pacific Land Trust and was founder of the Bromeliad Society International Conservation Committee. Michael has published 20 books of poetry including Nightmare of The Violins, Favorite Songs, Man/Woman (a collaboration with Joanne Kyger), Unhurried Vision, Monk Daddy, The Paris Journals, Choose, My Youth As A Train, Murder (Paper Press 2014), Sapodilla (Editions du Cygne-Swan World, Paris, France, 2016) and Drawing The Shade (Dos Madres Press, 2016).  Indefinite Detention: A Dog Story, was published in 2013 by Ekstasis Editions (Victoria, B.C., Canada), and in 2014 by Shabda Press (USA).
