For our May 2021 issue of WordCity Monthly, our editorial board is delighted to join together with Anne Sorbie and Heidi Grogan, editors of the forthcoming (M)othering Anthology (Inanna Publications, 2022), in announcing a call for fiction, non-fiction, poetry and visual art related to (M)othering.

It is our hope to feature poetry and prose from all over the world, from as many perspectives as possible., encompassing the fullest possible picture of the human experience of mothering or being mothered, whatever that may or may not mean to you.

Works received with be considered for and collected into the May 2021 issue of WordCity. The deadline is April 21, 2021.

Please send your stories, your verse, and visuals to dfh.editor.wordcity@gmail.com and include “Mothering Issue” in your subject line.

Submit prose (up to 10 pages), poems (up to 100 lines), photography or original art (please submit written files as WordDocs and visual files as jpegs).

How does mothering make or grow you? Take us to your joy, your dark places, your aching freedoms, your confusion, your sense of wonder, your sensual. Leave us raw and in awe of your real, your wild beauty, your careful, your kind.

We invite people from all walks of life, of all beliefs and backgrounds, all genders, sexual orientation(s), identities, cultures and peoples, origins and birthplaces, to consider (m)othering on their terms and from their points of view. Our ideas are related to although not limited to the following:
