Geraldine Sinyuy projects original and ancient Africa through raw folktales that are a concoction of fantasy, identity and beautiful language. The master storyteller depicts African indigenous knowledge through old tales once told by long gone story weavers. The great stories told by great-grandmothers of her land are manifesting in her as she now wields her pen to retell, revive and resurrect them through lyrical dexterity and literary prowess. From these wonderfully weaved stories, we mine civilization and barbarism of ancient communities. We also learn with gusto the moral fabrication together with the socialization and the politicization of the human past. These folktales are grandiose revelations that the ancient communities were highly learned, creative and educative; and that their books of wisdom still exist especially through our lyrically able Geraldine Sinyuy.

James Coburn masters the art of storytelling through verse. His poems bleach the racial misery clutching the land of promise, America. The protest poet treads on unusually ironical and paradoxical tarmacs, he vehemently interrogates the matters of black lives and questions the brutal violence against the black race through resistance poetry. The revolutionary verse-slinger rises beyond the usual and obvious as he puts American dictatorship at task against the background of the wantonly racial killings, with the cold-blooded demise of George Floyd, a callous act that received condemnation and demnation from the everything that breathes on earth. James Coburn speaks sand paper hard truth to power, charlatans and zealots have since become wolves and hyenas in broad light. The consciousness packed poetry is a biblical revelation and re- awakening tutelage to the grief laden and COVID 19 diseased earth gripped by hate, terrorism and racial violence. TIME OF THE POET REPUBLIC is delighted to profile, publish and feature the master of protest and resistance poetry James Coburn. - (Blurb by Mbizo CHIRASHA).

The reader will find many questions and few answers, and that is because life is a constant quest. The reader is then afforded a chance to think, and in doing so, possibly empower the self to a better human. Topics range from why divisions exist between races, to the vagaries of injustices as recorded by history. The great theme of being in mortal man ruling kin with the hands of self-appointed god-head raises the question of morality and truth as presented by those with an agenda other that general good to all. Love, whether for fellow man, Country of deity are themes that preoccupy many a poem. The motif of the Bridge which this book borrows so generously from, is symbol of the interconnectedness all there is in our world. From past eternity, through history and movement of people to belief systems that pit one group against another. The book asks for the reader to engage his/her mind in a renewed manner. There is hope for humanity even at the worst of times. Nancy Ndeke is an avid reader who writes as much. Nancy draws her writings from both observed living and personal experiences. She is a child of nature by the fate of birth having been born and bred in a rural setting before climate change vagaries became a reality. Through school and travel, her eyes experienced the wholeness of the other enriching her further. Her work experience in was ravaged countries further brought to her the sad reality and tragedy of wars-( Blurb by NANCY NDEKE)
