Rwandan Poet and youth activist, Akimana Divine writes bold verses that speak to all young people of her nation and beyond. She exposes moral decadence and other vices that corrupt the lives and dignity of her generation. Her poetic hymns are original, genuine and emanate from inner depth pit of herself. The heart-seizing passion, the mind raving rhythm and abundant reason illustrate her love of her people and her respect to the dignity of humanity. She writes this poetry volume with the voice of a teenager, despite her being of an old, thus the collection projects her life experiences, memories and tragedies she encountered during her teenage years. Divine's SCARS THAT SHAPE US is a testimony that she is a true voice of the youth, the voiceless, the abused, the poor and the vulnerable. This poetry collection is a story that carries voices of young African people and a voice representing those suffering in the dungeons of poverty, locked in chains of deliquesces and imprisoned behind the high walls of decadence. It is prose –poetry collection of an up and coming poet. She carries the promise of Rwanda, Africa and the globe. She is a wonderful daughter of Africa using her poetry voice to speak the truth, child rights, youth freedoms, disease, evils, delinquency and more.
Jabulani Mzinyathi Ndlovu , your DNA is rimmed with gems of poetic metaphors . Your heart dances to the beat of satire. Irony was carved onto your bloodstream since the day of your birthing . A brilliant versifier, a born poet , political fortune-teller and literary -artivist . A gift to Zimbabwe and Africa but yet an unsung literary hero . I always wanted to praise my peers ,mentors , collaborators , word combatants and poetry guerrillas during their lifetime .Prowess and its cousin dexterity must be wholeheartedly praised and be awarded fully, while the bearers are still walking on this great earthJabulani Mzinyathi is one great poetry writing giant and doyen of verse. The literary giant in him is always far from the maddening crowd and as the old adage goes again silent waters runs deep. Yes ,his writings are packages of poetic fungicides disinfecting the syphilitic political gangrenes from the manhood of Africa regimes and other global establishments. The satire within is calamine lotion to heal and dry the infectious corruption eczema ridden abdomen of the state . The sarcasms' washes away decadence of cheap propaganda polished power- corridors . Your irony is a cleaning detergent smacking off the snort of zealotry high offices. Your poetic voice rattles and raves double-chinned charlatans imbibing the sweat of the POVO for breakfast and munching the freedom of the masses for dinner in the name of parliament sittings and debates - Enough. This blog profile is a special celebration of one greatest , Internationally acclaimed and multi-award winning Zimbabwean Writer , Poet and Attorney Jabulani Mzinyathi Ndlovu . Kalpna Singh-Chitnis , Your poetry is a refined discord of nostalgia, a collage of warped dreams suffering from racial disparity and cultural torment. Maria Del Castillo Sucerquia, I greedily swigged from your rich calabash of poetry, the same way I do to woodfire -made traditional millet beer with that natural scent of freshly baked bread, diligently brewed by willing, committed hearts and motherly peasant-earth eking hardened but passionate hands. The beauty of our African village lifestyles. Maria Del Castillo Sucerquia, your poetry is an embodiment of a myriad of voices and messages that matter most to humanity. Humanity had since experienced the horror of death and have incessantly groaned under the burden of sorrow for so long. Thus, we are serenaded by this blood-warming confessional poetry that tackles the subject of love with the inner depth emotion and belly pit passion. Here seasons of death are overtaken by scents of love blooming like petal of roses in our once grief- filled heart boxes. This love verse massages and bandages broken hearts to want to reconcile their tattered feelings for a renewed love life, mesmerizing. You are multi-gifted and not limited to one subject matter. Your torch bulb poetry reflects on human expectations, worries, anxiety, love lost, love found, lives lost and lives lived. The heroine in you remains resilient and uses poetry to speak on matters of the current life-threatening pandemic, the menace of the COVID 19 with its cantankerous triplet’s quarantine, lockdown and death. The set poems are outstanding, prolific and serenading. Readers can spiritedly slide into a dance trance and get trapped in mystic realms of holy poetic tongues. The newest collection of poems (October 2020) is a book length poetic adaptation of 114 poems in Kenneth Rexroth’s 1971 publication (New Directions) of his One Hundred Poems from the Chinese.Poet, editor and publisher Michael Dickel (Is A Rose Press) and his team worked on developing a stunning presentation, with a world book launch scheduled from Milwaukee on Nov. 11, 7:30 pm CST. “By a Lake Near a Moon: Fishing with the Chinese Masters” was a delight to work on, especially as I had spent many previous years developing Holocaust response poems, some short and some very long. I admit I was looking for something to help cleanse my old spirit of such dark times. Perhaps I can send a flyer from the host, Boswell Books of Milwaukee. The next book project is accepted for possibly late 2021 or early 2022, newer poems under the working title, “Hello There,” a collection of mixed poems from years ago, and a few months ago. I hope these three newer books will add to earlier books based on Conquistador narratives, primarily translated Spanish narratives. Who knows what’s next, or if there will be a “next” in these Covid-19 times.
